About Us

treeThe authors … a grandfather, uncle and son, are all men who want to thank and give back to their own children and grandchildren for helping them to remember the joy of the imagination through these L U M P K I N T A L E S.

Rick AtwaterRick Atwater is a columnist/writer and Addictions Recovery Specialist who remains deeply committed to  offering reading materials and experiences which encourage children to retain their innate knowing and natural joy. In his professional life, he works with adolescents and adults who mood alter with activities and substances in search for “the more.” Dorrie Lumpkin reminds all of us of “the healthy more” - the joy in life that is found deep in the woods, deep in the song, deep in the dance, deep in the cycles of life and deep in our hearts.  It is Rick’s mission to help keep our creative selves alive and remember that our lives all hold meaning through simple actions.

Lee AtwaterLee Atwater  worked in the corporate world for over 13 years for a major financial firm until the creative muse called him back to his creative self. Today, in addition to being a business consultant and work-at-home father, he photographs the cycles of life, teaches Tai Chi, plays his guitar and longs to keep his children’s imaginations alive. L U M P K I N T A L ES is an expression of his commitment to the creative self.

Chris AtwaterChris Atwater, the father of two very young children, started drawing before he could walk.  With crayon in hand, he drew on floors, walls and furniture, with passion. Despite the adult responsibilities such as the electric bill and a mortgage, when Chris held each of his children for the first time, the artist was re-sparked and he couldn’t stop himself from bringing Dorrie’s world alive through illustrations that stretch his imagination, and anyone who sees them.
